The land owner/farmer/consultant MUST complete a farm map detailing all low, moderate, high-risk areas and include all no-spreading areas.
Our guide below is to indicate the colours on your farm map:
Colour Coded Risk Level | Details |
---|---|
Red – No Spread Zone |
- Within 50m of a spring, well or borehole. - 10m of any ditch, burn, river, loch or wetland. - Slopes in excess of a gradient of 11° (1 in 5). - Shallow soils with average soil depth of less than 40cm and overlies gravel or fissured rock. - Areas under separate management agreements such as SSSI and agri-environment schemes. - Unimproved land that has not previously received slurry or manure. - Wooded land, steading, roads and yards. |
Orange – High Risk Area |
- Slopes with a gradient of between 8 and 11° (approx. 1 in 7 to 1 in 5). - Areas at risk of flooding more often than one in five years. - Fields with drainage installed in the previous 12 months. - Poorly drained, waterlogged or severely compacted land. |
Yellow – Moderate Risk Area |
- Slopes with a gradient of between 4 and 7° (approx. 1 in 14 to 1 in 8). - Land sloping towards watercourses or water supplies. - Imperfectly drained or saturated land. |
Green – Low Risk Area |
- Slopes with a gradient up to 3° (approx. 1 in 19). - Land with no artificial drainage. |
Our livestock manure management planner is a simple tool to use;
- Input Livestock
- Choose from the 17 different cattle classifications (Dairy cows, beef sucklers, calves, etc.)
- Enter animal counts in the “No Of Head” column for each relevant category
- Input Housing Periods
- Specify number of months of indoor housing (0-12) for each group.
- Our system auto-populates standard excreta volumes from DEFRA-approved data.
